GOALS FOR OUR STUDENTS
Accounting continues to be one of the leading
professions worldwide. Moreover, the demand for accountants in public
practice, industry, and government continues to remain strong. The
objective of our program is to prepare students for careers in public or
private accounting sectors, or related professions, such as banking and
consulting. It also facilitates the professional-oriented preparation for
graduate programs in accounting, business, or finance.
Research Focus:
CURRICULUM DESIGN
Our program is guided by two underlying
principles: 1) students must learn not only accounting theory but also be
able to incorporate relevant theories into practical application; and 2)
traditional accounting practices must be conjoined with advances in modern
information technology to achieve a unified approach. These two underlying
principles flow into the design of all courses in our four separate
accounting fields: Financial accounting, taxation, finance management, and
information technology.
Students are required to complete a minimum of
thirty-nine accounting hours and twelve information technology hours
beyond the introductory courses. The required and recommended courses can
be found in our website: http://www.ltc.edu.tw/%7Eacct/. Graduates of our
program will meet the demand for professionals who understand the
applications of technology in the context of business and accounting
processes. All of the information technology courses are taught from the
perspective of the accounting professional.
